Alexis is the bridge between clients and the SCAPE practice.

Alexis C. Landes is the Managing Principal and Partner at SCAPE where she plays a critical role overseeing firm-wide strategy and business operations. As an experienced landscape designer and urban planner, she has served as Principal-in-Charge of several portfolio-defining projects such as the Resilient Boston Harbor Vision and The Launch School at Floyd Bennett Field. She has also developed the firm’s portfolio of projects in Detroit, including the Islandview Greater Villages Planning Strategy and the Greater Corktown Neighborhood Planning Framework.

Alexis lectures nationally on professional practice, presenting on SCAPE’s approach to firm and project management, professional development, and growth. At SCAPE, she has overseen the firm’s expansion from one office with 12 staff members to three offices with 90 staff members over the past ten years. She has also spoken about the firm’s unique collaborative leadership structure and operational strategy in publications such as Madame Architect (read the full interview here) and at professional conferences across the U.S.

Alexis is a lecturer at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design where she currently teaches a seminar on contemporary design business and practice. She currently sits on the Board of the Landscape Architecture Foundation as the Vice President of Leadership, where she works with fellow board members and affiliated groups to advance collaborative leadership across the field of landscape architecture, advocating for diversity of voices across the Foundation’s work and professional practice at large. Previously, from 2013 to 2018, Alexis was an adjunct faculty member at the Rhode Island School of Design, where she served as a design critic and taught a seminar on contemporary landscape practice. Alexis holds a Bachelor’s in Visual Arts and Sociology from Oberlin College and a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from Harvard University.
